Church hoppers

Roy shared something that I agreed whole-heartedly during worship. The Christian population hasn't really grown in Singapore despite the massive growth in attendance in mega churches like City Harvest and New Creation. Christians have merely just shifted from one church to another.

So many times have I heard Christians leaving their churches simply because they found their own pastors boring or that they find the other pastor more entertaining. Sometimes I hear very feeble excuses - that the worship band is better in other churches. Since when did the highlight of church-going became the pastor or the music? If it is, it becomes a really weak activity akin to going for an entertaining talk show every week.

Again, I agree with Roy that God has a purpose to plant us in the church that we are in. Unless the Pastor is doctrinally wrong or that you're called somewhere, there is simply no reason why you should leave. Leaving only perpetuates a vicious cycle - leaving members discouraged and fostering the debilitating feeling that the church is flailing.

Church-going is by no means an emotional experience where you get high on worship music or entertained by a comedic sermon. The bottomline is this: church-going should bring you closer to God, transform your life to lead a life of love. If one thinks that his/her boring church is not serving that purpose, give it some time before drawing conclusions and uprooting to another.

I GOT THIS FROM XINGTI'S BLOG. so now, let me elaborate MORE.

just expect some f* sacarsm okay. cause im totally pissed off.

yes, i changed church partly cause the pastor WAS and IS boring. don't you agree that when someone's boring, or talks in sucha monotone way that you actually dont feel like listening? and that of course leads to not bothering to listen at all. NO? the highlight of church-going has NOT become the pastor OR the music. its the interest. if you are not interested at all, you would just SIMPLY stop going to church. like me.

you know what, i don't even feel like going to church anymore now. incessant pestering and "naggings" to make us grow and grow has made everything look like the main focus is as long as you GROW we dont care about anything else.

i realise something about shalom. i didnt want to say the reason that i change church, but now, i feel so pissed off that i cant be bothered already.

they only focus about getting people SAVED. okay, you want the church to grow. yes. excuse me, the church i'm going now, started with mere amount of people like shalom. but look at it now? it's established. it's even building a new church. they get hundred thousands of offerings & building funds EVERY WEEK. they have 3000 odd people every week.

and one more thing, shalom people dont get about to doing things. nobody WANTS to contribute. nobody wants to MOVE to START. so what if we start doing things? NOBODY, NOBODY wants to continue.

church-going should bring you closer to God, transform your life to lead a life of love. If one thinks that his/her boring church is not serving that purpose, give it some time before drawing conclusions and uprooting to another.

apparently after 7 years, momsy didnt grow at all, and i? i need not say further.

everyone HAS their own conclusions and it's a personal preference which church their comfortable in.
